You were there at the beginning and through all the “firsts”
That first cry that announced my arrival
My first smile, first steps, words, tooth, first day of school, first date
I remember your anxious looks when I drove by myself for the first time
As I reassured you I would be ok and you prayed this would be so
Your guidance, patience, wisdom and love
Held me up when my confidence was low and my fears took over
You stood beside me through the years
When I made it hardest for you and put tears in your eyes
You were strongest
When I was at my unlovable worst
Your love never faltered
Because of you I believe I have the power in me
To face life’s challenges and prevail
To do what ever I want or am called to do
With grace and wisdom
Your love, devotion and unwavering faith in me made who I am today
If I can pass on your legacy of love I will consider myself successful
This special day belongs to you as well
Without you it could never be
